Sphingomonas paucimobilis Bloodstream Infections ...

Charles Scott|15 days ago
Sphingomonas paucimobilis is an aerobic bacterium found in soil and water; it is a rare cause of healthcare-associated infections (11,12). S. paucimobilis has been re-ported to cause outbreaks of bacteremia among immuno-compromised patients in hematology and oncology units; these outbreaks are possibly related to bacterial coloniza-

f Sphingomonas piscinae sp. nov., isolated from a fish pond

John Thompson|23 days ago
A bacterial strain designated LYH-20T was isolated from a fish pond in Taiwan and characterized using a polyphasic taxonomy approach. Cells of strain LYH-20T were aerobic, Gram-stain-negative, non-motile, poly-β-hydroxybutyrate containing, showing straight and rod shaped that were covered by large capsules and formed yellow-coloured colonies.

4/1/2004 · Bacterial strains of the genus Sphingomonas are often isolated from contaminated soils for their ability to use polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) as the sole source of carbon and energy. The direct detection of Sphingomonas strains in contaminated soils, either indigenous or inoculated, is, as such, of interest for bioremediation purposes.

Aeromonas salmonicida - Wikipedia

Jeff Turner|19 days ago
Aeromonas salmonicida's ability to infect a variety of hosts, multiply, and adapt, make it a prime virulent bacterium. A. salmonicida is an etiological agent for furunculosis, a disease that causes sepsis, haemorrhages, muscle lesions, inflammation of the lower intestine, spleen enlargement, and death in freshwater fish populations.

A yellow pigmented and agar-pitting colony was isolated from a water sample obtained from a drainage ditch within a disused system of constructed wetlands. The strain was purified and named MCT13T. This rod-shaped, Gram-negative, oxidase- and catalase-positive, aerobic, non-spore-forming, and non-motile strain formed round colonies and grew optimally at pH 7.5±0.2, at 28–30 °C on LB agar ...

A Sphingomonas sp. strain LPN080 can efficiently remove both ammonia nitrogen and nitrite in farming water.. Ammonia nitrogen is removed by the strain LPN080 through heterotrophic ammonia assimilation. • Sphingomonas sp. strain LPN080 could indirectly inhibit the growth of Vibrio spp. in farming water.. Sphingomonas sp. LPN080 has high biosafety toward shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei.
